Power.com has filed a case against the web 2.0 giant Facebook. The reason? Power.com is claiming that Facebook is in direct violation of their own policy.

A recent post by the New York Times cited

Power.com is now arguing that “Facebook is stifling competition by restricting their users and blocking access to Power.com,”according to a statement from the company. “Facebook has built billions of dollars in market value and has caused irreparable damages to users, Power’s business, and many other companies whom they have similarly threatened,” it said. The suit lists several charges including unfair competition, restraint of trade and monopolization.

Facebook counters this claim stating that they have tried to work with Power.com on many occasions, but Power.com is putting users data at risk.

Power.com’s CEO is comparing Facebook’s policy to that of many cell phone company, who attempt to keep out third parties in order to monopolize off its customers.

It is uncertain that this claim will stand up in court, but is should be an interesting battle.
