It has been estimated that Twitter Bots generate almost 25% of messages on Twitter. This research has been conducted through various social media specialists. Although some information is useful, most of the information being thrown out there by these Twitter Bots is spam. No one wants to deal with spam and information that they do not want. Twitter is supposed to be a fun place to communicate with the people that you choose. This makes it even more important to help destroy Twitter Bots before they become an even larger problem then they already have become.

If accounts are blocked enough, they will eventually be suspended. Gone are the days when you could spot a Twitter Bot by the avatar being used. You really need to watch your tweets. If you feel you are getting way too many, this may be a good indication that you are dealing with a Twitter Bot. These crafty little bots can spit out over 150 messages daily. They also have a tendency to hide within tweeting famous quotes to make them look real. Be very leery of homilies related to the same reason, and duplicated messages. Twitter Bots will often send out the same stream off messages. Really watch the pattern when in comes to your tweets. If something does not look right, you are probably dealing with a bot.

You may happen to notice a high follower to following ratio. This can be a dead giveaway. This is something that will not happen under normal circumstances. Twitter Bots don’t have conversation, so you will never see @mentions or @posts.
