With summer being here and the kids home from school, a lot of parents are looking for ways to keep them occupied. This is especially true when you have your kids on a long car trip and they are getting bored. But if you have an iPhone, there are a lot of applications that are especially good for all ages. Even for the younger children.
Here are four good iPhone applications that are good for toddler aged children.

Where’s Gumbo – Do your children loves those books where you have to lift the flap to find something? Then they are going to love this fun little application that is a storybook that they can interact with; and allow the toddlers to look through the different scenes and look for a lost dog named Gumbo as well as other animals that they are going to find behind the flaps. It’s something that will be different each time your child plays.

Peekaboo Barn – This is a great game to help teach your toddler how to recognize animals by the sounds that they are making. The game has the child guessing which of the animals is behind a door based only on the sound that they are hearing.

Balloonanimals – This application is one that is a favorite with younger children. The child blows into the microphone on the iPhone to make the balloon inflate and then shake the phone to get the animal assembled. Once the balloon animal is complete, the child can interact with it, petting the animal and making the animal do tricks.

Colorama – Even though there are a lot of different coloring book applications to try on your iPhone, you are going to find that Colorama is one of the very best ones available. There are 53 drawings that the children can color in many different ways, and those illustrations that the children have been colored are able to be saved to the camera roll of the iPhone so that they can be sent through email

They are fun for the children as well as educational. You will find that they are going to keep your children busy for hours and that the battery on your iPhone will be more likely to run out before your children get tired of them.

Since the cost of servicing an iPhone is outrageous and monopolized by one company. I’m wondering if jailbreaking is true, if its something you should/can do yourself, or should you buy one already ‘jailbroken’?
