One of the biggest mistakes when it comes to Twitter is that people assume that it isn’t a good copywriting tool because you don’t have a lot of room to say what you want to say. Nothing could be further from the truth. If you are smart and post intelligently, you can use Twitter extremely effectively to promote your business or your knowledge.

Here are some good tips to remember when you are using Twitter for copywriting purposes. They are going to help you make your readers interested in what you have to say and keep them coming back for more.

Personal – The first thing that you want to do is to be personal with your readers and followers. That doesn’t mean that you are going to tell everyone about their private lives. It means that you should thank them by name for their questions and for following you. You can also ask them how they are doing and remember their birthdays or other special events in their lives if you are aware of them. This will show them that you are interested in their needs.

Speak clearly – One of the biggest mistakes that people make when it comes to Twitter is that they use Net speak in order to conserve space. Even though a lot of people are aware of what the abbreviations mean, there are still some who will not understand. Use complete words when you are Tweeting. It looks better to your readers and it won’t frustrate those who are not versed in Net speak.

Keep Tweets Relevant – If you have a business, you are going to want to make sure that you are Tweeting about things relevant to your business. People are following you because they want the advice and the tips that you can give them, not because they want to know what you are eating or drinking. The more information that you offer them, the more they are going to follow you and the more likely they are going to be to become customers.

Keep Up With It – The worst thing that someone can do when they are using Twitter for copywriting purposes is to become lax in their posting. If you don’t keep writing, at least once a day, people are going to forget about you and they are going to lose interest in what you have to say. If it helps, make a list of relevant posts that you want to Tweet about at the beginning of the week and set up reminders to yourself to post them.

Even though Twitter only allows for short posts, it’s easy to see why it can be a very good copywriting and marketing tool for any business. Sometimes less is more when it comes to information that people want to know. Give them information that they can read in a short period of time and that they are going to be able to use, and it will keep them coming back again and again.
