Twitter Purges the Spammers…

In a recent blog post Twitter states that you should be warned that your follower count may drop. The Reason? Twitter is going to purge the spammy accounts and “data inconsistencies” from their system. This decision comes in correlation with the need for Twitter to address the “following” and “follower” accounts that have been incorrect for many people. These efforts will aim to fix this problem for many tweeps, so the numbers you see in your side bar are correct.

Twitter assures us that no “legitimate followings” should be disrupted and they are hoping to get the garbage out of the system.
