Here are some things that you need to remember when you are using Twitter to network and to find new customers.

– Be Nice – The first thing that you should remember is that you are going to want to be nice to your followers. If you aren’t nice to your followers you are going to start losing them.

– Don’t Act Childish – You want to make sure that you are acting professional when you are interacting with your followers, since a lot of the people are Twitter are older. Express your opinions, but express them in a professional way.

– Keep Your Tweets Updated – Absence may make the heart grow fonder, but it can also make people completely forget about you. If you are trying to show people that you have something that they want, don’t ignore them. Tweet tips, information, anything that you can think of that relates to your business.

– Stay Relevant- If you are using your Twitter account for business purposes, don’t start tweeting about your dog or your day to day activities. Keep on task and give people the information that they want about your business. This will help people keep interested in what you have to say and help them realize that you aren’t going to start spouting inane information at them.

– Research – Do some research on Twitter to see what people are looking for in reference to your business. What are people asking about when it comes to the types of products that you sell or the services you offer? Chances are they are doing searches for answers to their questions. You could be the one that gives them what they are looking for.

– Be Yourself – The last thing that you want to remember to do is to be yourself. Nothing is going to put people off more than someone who keeps telling everyone how much they know and what they can do. Show them through articles and answers to questions, don’t simply tell them.

Marketing on Twitter can be very affective if it is done the right way. You don’t want to scare people away but you don’t want to act lax either. Be friendly and comfortable with your followers and give them the information that they want to have. Think about their needs and cater to them. You are going to find that you are more of a success when you are doing this.
A good business person thinks about the customers’ needs and puts it above their own needs. Putting the customer first will make them interested in your company and products and brings them coming back for more. They will also be eager to tell others about the information that you are freely giving.
