As it is with just about any networking site, sometimes you have people who on Twitter follow you or who send you messages and you would rather not be in contact with anymore. Fortunately, there are steps that you can take in order to stop someone from following you on Twitter.

- The first thing that you want to do is to get logged on to your Twitter account. This will involve entering your username or email as well as your password.
- Next, you want to select your followers from the sidebar on the right hand side of your screen. The area that you will want is the column in the middle, which is going to be right under the image you chose for your profile. When you click on it, it will take you to those users who are currently following you.
- Look through the followers to find the one that you have decided to block. Depending on how many people you have following you, this may take several minutes. You will find that it’s easier thanks to the scrolling option at the bottom of the page.
- When you have found the person that you want to block, you will then need to choose the block option next to the name of the follower. After making your selection, you are going to be taken to yet another screen that is going to make sure you really want to block the person that you have selected.
- The last step will be to confirm that you want to block that follower. Once you have selected the confirmation, the person will be removed from the list of your followers.
If you have decided that you are going to block someone who has been following you on Twitter, there are a few things that you should keep in mind.
- You will only be able to unblock someone after you have added them back as one of your friends again.
- If you want to block everyone from following you, you can go select the option to protect updates on your settings page for your account.
- When you have blocked someone from following you, they will no longer see you on their friends list.
If you get upset with one of your followers, don’t make a rash decision unless they are really bothering you. It may have simply been a misunderstanding. Let yourself sleep on it for a night or so and then look at the situation in the morning. Usually things look brighter in the morning, and you will feel better knowing that you didn’t make a decision that you would react when you were still angry.
Blocking a follower on Twitter is something that you should think about thoroughly before deciding to do it. It may lead to bad feelings and put you in a worse position than you are in currently. Weigh the pros and cons and then make a rational decision about what to do.
