If you have signed up for a Twitter account and you don’t have anyone following you, you may be wondering why. You may be wondering what you can do to remedy this, and if there is anything specific that you can do in order to make people want to follow your posts.
Here are some things that you may find useful in getting people to sit up and notice you on Twitter.

Follow Me
1. Create a profile – The first thing that you should do is make sure that you have created a profile on Twitter. List your interests, your age, your gender, anything that may make people interested in getting to know you better. People are going to be more likely to follow someone if they find that they have the same type of interests that they have and not a blank bio.
2. Post regularly – The second thing that you can do to make people want to follow you is to post regularly. Share intelligent ideas and links to interesting web copy. This is going to let people know that you have things you want to say and you are not just another automated “twitter bot”.
3. Be yourself – Thirdly, make sure that your are not acting like someone you are not. That is, you should act naturally. Don’t post a bunch information and thoughts and then turn around and change on people. This is not cool. Just be yourself and you will find that people are going to like you for you.
4. Don’t Post Inane Posts –Yes, people are interested in what you have to say but you don’t want to post something on Twitter simply to post something. Don’t post things like what you are having for lunch or what you are watching on television unless you are really excited about it. People are going to get turned off by nonsense posts, and they would rather not read anything at all.
5. Don’t Get Upset –If you see someone has stopped following you on Twitter, don’t get upset. It’s not the end of the world. Don’t go begging them to come back and follow you again. Maybe they just need to take a break. Try different tactics in your postings and give them time.
6. Build Relationships- Many users think the only way to get followers is to blast an innate amount of auto posts from blog feeds and/or other automated software. This could not be farther from the truth. In fact, some may find this type of behavior to be considered “border line spam”. Instead, try engaging some of your followers. If someone new follows you, send them a reply and ask them how they day is going. If they post a tweet about something interesting, Retweet there post, ensuring you give them the proper credit.
Twitter is a great place where you can meet other people, exchange ideas and information. Whether you are looking for an online friendship or something more, you are going to be able to find people who share your interests and your passions. Just ask yourself what it is that you are interested in reading about on other people’s Twitter pages. If it’s something that you don’t want to read, chances are others aren’t going to want to read it on your Twitter page either.
I thank you for sharing these insightful tips, this is one of the hardest things for me to do. I am a total noob so maybe this will change to game a bit.
We plan on having more real soon…
I agree this is a great way to do things, if only those 100 thousand other marketers would jump on this boat. I could clear my feed of nonsense. Thank you for your contribution Duvall
I love twitter, and I tweet probably way more than I should. I’ve followed you on twitter. I use twitter more than ever nowadays and my blog feels abandoned!
